Full-Time Tattoo Artist Position
**This is not an apprenticeship position
Are you a talented, full-time tattoo artist looking for your “forever” home? Would you like more time to focus on your artistry and tattooing rather than your social media posting? Are you looking for some reliability and dependability in your schedule? Are you wanting to work in a chill, collaborative environment with artists that like to bounce ideas off each other and like working together? Are you looking for a studio that celebrates diversity and cultivates a safe space for clients as well as staff? Would you like employer supplemented health insurance and benefits? Well, we may be the studio for you!
Voted one of the Best of Spokane in both the Inlander and Spokane Magazine, Mom’s Custom Tattoo and Body Piercing of Spokane WA is a busy studio located just north of downtown Spokane in the live/work community called Kendall Yards. Kendall Yards is a growing diverse area that is being developed with restaurants, pubs, an urban grocer, coffee shops, a farmers’ market, and more.
We have been in Kendall Yards since 2014 and have recently expanded and remodeled our studio with a new, beautiful look. We are more a lifestyle studio than a street shop. We focus on the art aspect of our career and what it takes to be an artist; Mom’s provides administrative and marketing support to our artists so they can focus on their clients and their artistry. Our clientele are mostly professionals looking for their first tattoos or looking to get a full sleeve, back piece, or larger projects. We foster a supportive, sharing community with our artists so many of our clients return to get work done not only by the artist they originally worked with but they try other artists on the team as well.
Spokane is a city with a small-town feel and points of interest as well as wilderness a short drive or walk in any direction. Spokane is a wonderful place for families; it is extremely affordable (so all that great money you make tattooing can go much further than in a large city) and has superb public schools and public services.
You should apply if:
you love giving fantastic customer service;
you have a passion for art and custom tattoos;
you would like to build a solid clientele;
you are professional and consistent in your work;
you want to work full time;
you can commit to the work hours 11am – 8pm (maybe 9pm in summer)
you want to be a part of a brand and a team, not just a “shop”;
you are willing to learn, grow, and continue to educate yourself in new styles and techniques;
you want to encourage the artists around you;
you love a positive environment and contribute to that positive environment;
you are able to work with counter staff.
We would like a dynamic artist with 3-5+ years of professional, studio experience. You must also be comfortable with a predominantly female studio that strives to be a safe and welcoming space; we believe that all persons regardless of age, sex, race, body shape or size, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression should be treated with dignity and respect. We believe in the power of consent and informed decision-making. Body modification is about body reclamation for many folks. Our team is committed to helping with that process.
Having a BFA or BA and having worked with counter staff is a plus.
Our shop is appointment based but we also try our best to accommodate walk-ins when time allows; a good candidate would be comfortable handling both. We are a very busy studio, so we are looking for a candidate that wants to work full time and can handle the demand with grace and compassion. We host guest artists from around the country throughout the year as well, so you have a great opportunity to meet artists from other cities without traveling.
The state of Washington requires a license and current Bloodborne Pathogens certification. We would also like you to be knowledgeable in cross-contamination and aseptic technique and be willing to take correction without sass.
Also, to keep our clients and our team members safe, we require COVID vaccination.
